CAMELLIA CITY 5-K

Funding  service in the community

 

The Camellia City 5-k run brings together the community to help truly impact the community. All the funds raised from the run benefit the community directly. By allowing Kiwanis to sponsor countless service projects and provide grants for local school's service and learning initiatives all 5-k runners make a huge impact in their community.

Kiwanis hosts countless projects in the community to help make Slidell a better place, but more than that Kiwanis also host numerous service organizations including NHS's Key Club that has over 140 members and gives over 5,000 hours of service to the community yearly. 

PROJECTS

CAMP BEARABLE 

Providing relief for children who have last a loved one

 

The camp, is held annually and hosted by Kiwanis. The camp is a safe environment where children are surrounded by other kids who are experiencing the same feelings they have. The two and a half day camp is filled with games and fun activities as well as heartwarming stories the allow the children to open up about their loss and grief. Each child is paired with a specially trained adult “buddy” that provide them guidance throughout the weekend. 

 

 

TERRIFIC KIDS 

 a student-recognition program that promotes character development, self-esteem and perseverance.


Students work with their classroom teacher to establish goals to improve behavior, peer relationships, attendance or school work.  All students who achieve their goals after a specified time are recognized as Terrific Kids. Recognition includes being pinned as a Terrific Kid; a pizza, ice cream or other food-themed party; and presentation of certificates and other giveaways.

NORTHSHORE KEY CLUB 

A highschool service program that allows teenagers opportunities to grow as leaders and service their community

Northshore's Key Club has been noted as being one of the strongest in the district. With over 140 members and 5,000 hours of service annually this program truly makes an impact. Kiwanis sponsors this organization my providing mentors from their program as well as grants so the club can be more serviceable to its home, school, and community.
